Soft Tissue Injuries and Minor Fractures
Have you injured yourself during sport, a fall, or while lifting something heavy or awkwardly? These types of accidents are common and can result in soft tissue injuries like sprains, strains, or bruising, as well as minor fractures. At London Urgent Care Centre (LUCC), our expert team is here to assess and treat these injuries quickly and effectively, helping you return to normal activity as soon as possible.
Soft tissue injuries affect the muscles, tendons, or ligaments and often occur when these tissues are overstretched or torn. Common examples include ankle sprains, pulled muscles, or ligament strains. Symptoms usually include:
- Pain
- Swelling
- Bruising
- Restricted movement
Minor fractures, also known as small or stable breaks, may present with similar symptoms, making a thorough assessment essential to distinguish between the two.
When you arrive at LUCC, our clinicians will begin by taking a full history of how the injury occurred, followed by a careful physical examination. We’ll check for signs of swelling, deformity, bruising, tenderness, and range of motion. If a fracture is suspected, we may refer you for an X-ray to confirm the diagnosis and guide further treatment.
Once we’ve identified the nature of your injury, we’ll develop a treatment plan tailored to your needs. Most soft tissue injuries respond well to the RICE method – Rest, Ice, Compression, and Elevation – which helps reduce pain and swelling. We can also provide pain relief, strapping or supportive splints, and crutches if needed to keep weight off the injured area.
For minor fractures, treatment may include:
- Immobilisation using a splint or temporary cast
- Pain management
- Follow-up advice
We will always ensure you are referred on for further imaging or orthopaedic care if more specialist treatment is required.
Our service doesn’t stop at immediate care. We understand how important it is to heal properly and regain full strength and mobility after an injury. That’s why we also provide return-to-activity guidance, helping you understand when and how to safely resume exercise, sports, or work. If your injury requires further rehabilitation, we can refer you to physiotherapy services for targeted exercises and ongoing support.
Injuries happen, but with prompt treatment and expert guidance, most people make a full recovery without complications. Whether you’ve twisted your ankle during a run, strained your back lifting something heavy, or think you may have a small fracture after a fall, LUCC is here to help. We offer fast, professional assessment and care to get you back on your feet—and back to doing what you love.
